Thank You, Jennifer

Jennifer Rothschild's conference, Fresh Grounded Faith, will have an outreach look and feel this November. We hope to create a movement of women who are intentionally engaging women all over the city of Springfield because FGF will be a significant and life changing event for everyone there. A rally on May 6 at 6:30pm will help us launch FGF.

FGF's goal is to have one event in an area in which many churches and denominations come together to have a huge influence on the Kingdom. We also have women from different states that come. We will need at least 100 volunteers for this year's event. If you think you can help, let our women's ministry know.

Thank you, Jennifer, for giving us an event that helps us reach the lost. This matters.

Jennifer Rothschild

Jennifer shivers each time I call her the most famous member of Second. Nevertheless, it is true. Right here within our own fellowship we have one of the most influential ladies in all of the Southern Baptist Convention. Her Fresh Grounded Faith conferences have met in 37 cities in 23 states, with over 50,000 women having attended (9,000 in Springfield alone).

This year's conference at Second in November is focusing on unbelievers. To reach people for Jesus requires multiple touches by multiple people over time. We hope you will begin right now inviting and wooing people to come in November. Your friends will not be disappointed. Jennifer's guest this year will be Pam Tebow (Tim's mom), Ann Voskamp (author of "1000 Gifts"), and Michael O'Brien, who will lead worship. I'll share more info in a later blog. I hope this is enough to whet your appetite.

Our Unreached People

Over 15 years ago Second Baptist voted to adopt an unreached people group for 20 years. We are making a concerted effort to do our best to get the Gospel to them in these next five years. I have prayed for them for many years. Here's a sample of the prayer requests we receive from personnel who live among them.

Pray for a group that professed faith but then said they no longer wanted to believe. They recently said they had changed their mind and started studying the Bible again.

Pray for a new believer who has returned to her village (from college), where no other believers live. Pray her soon-to-be husband would come to know Jesus.

Pray for a new believer whose dad saw her reading the Bible. He threatened to burn it. Pray she will not become discouraged.

Pray for a village with many temples, shrines, sacred trees, and other spiritual paraphernalia, and no known believers.

Life Quotes 16 to 19

This post finishes my listing of life quotes. I hope they have blessed you.

16. "If I could hear Christ praying for me, I would not fear a million enemies" (Robert Murray McCheyne). How much reassurance do we need? Can anything be more comforting than the knowledge that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father praying for us.

17. "Hurry is the death of prayer" (Samuel Chadwick). We cannot have our eyes on God and the clock at the same time.

18. Wesley said in one of his hymns, "I am weak, but confident in self-despair." This is hard to understand  without concentration. He's not saying he is confident despite being weak. He is saying he is confident because he feels weak. Ponder that for a while. It's a game changer.

19. "Always rejoice in the Lord, but with a holy trembling" (Matthew Henry). Our generation could use a good dose of reverent respect for the Holy One of Israel.

Life Quotes 13,14,15

13. "Lord, make me as holy as a saved sinner can be" (McCheyne). Whatever height we achieve in our quest to be like Jesus, always be praying for more.

14. "We are good-for-nothing slaves; we've only done our duty" (LK 17:10b). It's never about us; it's always about Him.

15. "If I were standing on a wall between hell and sin, I would leap into hell rather than sin" (Ambrose). Is it possible to love Jesus enough that a person would be willing to suffer everlasting damnation rather than hurt the Lord?
