My Grandpa and Grandma Hill married on this date, September 4, in 1928. They had met at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft Worth TX the summer before.
Grandma came there from California. Grandpa came from Mississippi. Over Christmas break 1927 they both had to stay on campus due to living so far from Ft Worth.
A seminary professor hosted many holiday events in his home for students who could not travel home. These shared Christmas meetings were where Grandpa and Grandma fell in love.
They parted and went to their homes after the school year in May 1928. Grandpa sent words to Grandma that if she wanted to marry him, she would need to ride a train to Water Valley MS where he lived. She did. They did. I'm grateful.
