Millie is gone

Caleb's beloved dog Millie had to be put to sleep on Saturday. Arthritis in her hip had become so painful that she couldn't get up.

For many months Millie was a leading star of this blog as I tried to keep everyone apprised of my interaction with her and with her canine sidekick Jake. I never grew fond of the dogs but did appreciate them.

They provided a level of comfort and companionship for Caleb during a very sad time in his life. That whole experience increased my appreciation for pets. I have no desire to have one, but do better understand the role they can fill in a person's life.

Farewell Millie. Thank you for being Caleb's friend.
